Condolences to the Embassy of the United States of America

Mr. Michael Cleverly

Charge d΄ Affaires

Embassy of the United States of America

in Athens

91 Vas. Sophias Ave.

10160 Athens.

Dear Mr. Cleverly,

The Orthodox Church of Greece expresses its deepest condolences to the American people in light of yesterday morning’s tragic events.

At this time of unspeakable sorrow, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of these incomprehensible, cruel and inhuman acts of violence, and to their loved ones. The Greek people and clergy are shocked, revolted and saddened beyond words. For all of us terrorism has always been and will always be condemned in the eyes of both God and man.

We pray that the deep wounds inflicted upon the American Nation and its people by this cowardly act of terrorism will quickly heal and that the people of the United States now, more than ever, will contribute with realism, decisiveness and fortitude to the consolidation of peace and security for all human beings throughout the world.
